LOOK AT WHAT A LISTENER MADE FOR ME!

This incredible all wood sign was hand crafted by Michael Honor as a gift to me and I'm delighted to have it.  The detail is awesome right down to the little radio with real knobs!  If you would like your own custom sign designed and created by Michael call him at 916 424 3516.  The cost is only $20.00

I got to Sacramento in 1975 from the Los Angeles area where I was working for a Dick Clark owned radio station at the time. We moved here because all of our family was living in the area and Lincoln was were I was told the action was.  I stopped talking to the person who told me that after I saw Lincoln for the first time.  The feed store was also the pharmacy and there were no traffic lights, fast food restaurants or anything a native New Yorker would expect in a town.  If fact, main street had a mirror on it to make it look longer.  After and landing a job on KRAK 1140 country radio, my morning show ended up  breaking a Northern California record as the longest continuous running morning show that lasted 20 years. By then, the Lincoln jokes were on me.  It became the fastest growing city in the United States and I loved living there.  Switching from Am to Fm and back again, I had become part of the KRAK franchise for two decades and managed to win the national Billboard Magazine's Best Country DJ award in 1988 and was nominated again in 1992.  I really thought that my time there would never end, but everything does.  When management decided to change the stations format, it was time to leave. I took my shows cast of characters, fun games and topical humor, to the oldies station in town on  COOL 101.1 and then KOOL 101.9 FM.  With a brief stint doing mornings on KKFS "The Fish"'  When that ended, and my advertising agency doing very well, I figured it was time to say goodbye to getting up at three am and stop doing morning radio.

In April of 2007, Big Jim Hall called to tell me that there was a new Oldies station in town wanting to talk to us about working there.  After a delightful lunch with the manager, we were both hired to work at 92.1 KHITS and it looks like I'll be getting up at 3am for a long time to come.  Truth is - I LOVE IT!
